Industry Partnerships bring together employers, workers, and job training providers from a single industry sector to collaborate on improving the industry’s competitiveness and address common workforce and training needs.
Chester County’s current Industry Partnerships include: Advance Manufacturing, AgConnect, HealthCare Connect, Information Technology Action Group (ITAG) and Smart Energy and are managed by our partners at the Chester County Economic Development Council (CCEDC).
Through these partnerships, employers may be eligible for training grants, also known as Incumbent Worker Training Dollars, to pay for upskilling their current employees. These training grants help workers learn critical skills to advance our regional econonmy.
These grants can reimburse up to 50% of a company’s costs for a given training project, with special opportunities for training that supports layoff aversion and/or is critical to a company’s long-term growth and success in the region.
To connect with any of our Industry Partnerships and to learn more about the Training Grants, contact the CCEDC at (610) 458-5700.
PA CareerLink® Chester County can connect employers to the Federal Bonding Program as an incentive to hire at-risk, hard-to-place job seekers and provide employers with a business insurance policy that protects an employer against loss of money or property due to employee dishonesty.
Employers may also apply for this a federal tax credit for hiring individuals from specific target groups who have consistently faced significant barriers to employment. The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) joins other workforce programs that incentivize workplace diversity and facilitate access to good jobs for American workers. WOTC helps targeted employees move from economic dependency to self-sufficiency while earning a steady income and becoming contributing taxpayers.
For more information regarding both programs, employers may contact the State Bonding Coordinator/Tax Credit Services Unit at 800-345-2555.
When businesses face a substantial layoff or permanent closure of a facility, our reemployment services can help affected employees connect to employment opportunities within an industry or within their communities and aid in the transition.
Labor & Industry’s Rapid Response Team provides employers free, integrated business support to help ensure business continuity in the event of a mass layoff, plant closure or economic hardship.
PA CareerLink® also offers targeted onsite services to minimize disruptions associated with job loss – including coordinating on-site orientation services as well as re-employment services for impacted workers.
